Here's what Dr Mani, one of the most respected writers and marketers
on the Internet, says about this report:
|
How exciting can a book about English usage in 'Writing for the World'
authored by a self-confessed 'pedant' - and a Ph.D. to boot - be?
Surprise, surprise. VERY interesting indeed, as I just found reading
Kathy Lang's nice, short report about written English.
If you write for a global audience, online or off - on your websites,
articles you create for yourself or clients, in print publications or
ebooks, anywhere at all - you will find this quick read very helpful.
To add flavo(U)r to the feast, there are some pithy quotes included -
my favorite was this by Oscar Wilde:
"The difference between literature and journalism is that
journalism is unreadable and literature is not read."
If only everyone writing ebooks/reports could densely pack so much
value into a crisp, short report, while keeping it entertaining and
lively so it becomes an easy, fun read... well, ebook sales may just
EXPLODE! This is one of the nicest reports I've (oops, I have) read
in a while.
And to top it all off, the report gets an 'A+' rating for layout and
formatting. Well done, Kathy. You've set a standard for creating
quality special reports that many can use as a benchmark to aim for.

As a writer, I'm always very conscious of how words can be misunderstood, or worse, not understood
at all, by international readers. I have three whole shelves of books on 'writing' right beside my
desk. This morning I discovered a short report by Kathy Lang called 'Writing for the World' that
makes a lot of my books redundant.
In just 18 pages, Kathy explains many of the pitfalls of writing for an international audience and
how to avoid falling into them. It is succinct, accurate and very helpful indeed. Best of all, it is
priced so that everyone can afford it.
If you ever write anything (in English) that is intended to be read online then I strongly recommend
Kathy's report.

Another Internet veteran, Terry Heath, comments:
|
Kathy Lang's 'Writing for the World' revisits several often-forgotten
principles of powerful writing. The most powerful writing is the most
understood writing, and this concise guide will certainly help your
writing be more understood. However, the real magic of Dr. Lang's
approach is that its principles can be absorbed in less than 20
minutes.

Your report has enabled me to understand correct
punctuation painlessly. Even in some (English speaking)
countries, you may think you are understood
but the reality is different.
Readers of this report can easily apply its
contents making their ebook, web page etc..
comphrehensible to a world wide audience.
Buy this report, a larger audience means more sales.

English is known as a difficult language to learn. If you write for an
international audience where people know English as a second language,
this is a good report. As American speakers, we don't always know what
makes our writing more difficult to understand for non native speakers
and this can definitely be an eye opener.
In this book there are excellent tips which help you make your written
material more accessible and understandable for your international
clients or audience. Besides a list of suggestions, there is also a
checklist to make implementation easier.
I definitely recommend this report. I wish there had been something like
this for a language I am learning now. If people had followed it, it
would have made my life a lot easier!

This is an interesting subject that I also have several bugbears about
so I really enjoyed your report. I discovered (realised?) something that
I had been doing wrong and it really surprised me, the distinction
detween its and it's.
Although I do believe that to an extent some of the correctness is not
really required for the internet world, in a lot of cases this should be
required reading and is certainly an excellent crash course on the
subject.

From an international reader:
|
The report opened my eyes to a crucial insight that has eluded me and
probably most people who write on blogs, copies for marketing, and
generally on the Internet. Writing for more customers means writing for
the World!
Thanks for the report! Hope there's more to come!

I have just finished reading Writing for the World. The educational
value is something I began placing into my own writing immediately. I
had no idea that my writing was difficult for the majority of my
readers. The insight will help grow my international audience while
offering them easily understood information. I love the handy checklist
too. This is a must read for any writer and a great primer course before
you even pick up the pen!
